door hinge replacement

Guys,

Can someone tell me how to R&R the kickpanel on the driver's side so I can replace the lower hinge? Appears like the emergency brake is in the way..

If it's the same as my 90, it is just 2 Philips head screws that hold it on, then it slides out towards the rear of the truck. The parking brake is not in the way...Mark

I had a bit more trouble with mine. I think there are 4 screws on the panel. I had to remove the parking brake, but that is easy. The problem is with the vent door. You need to get the panel far enough away to get the sliding door out of the hole. Stupid design.

You must remove the parking brake assembly to get to the last screw. (just a few bolts)

My older 84 kick panels in the crewcab can be wrestled out without removing the parking brake assembly. But when I tried this on the donor 93...nope no go. Had to remove the parking brake assembly. Just get it loose and swing it out of the way. PITA set-up for sure!

my truck has the screws in the back as well. I simply removed the screws I could, stuck a wedge in the front between the kick panel and the cab, and got a wrench in there. wasn't difficult at all, and I didn't have to go through the effort of removing the PB assembly....

I changed the hinge pin bushings without unbolting the cab side of the hinge. Was fairly easy IMO.
