Door hinge fix

I put a set on replacement pins and bushing in the drivers side door hinges. Man what a difference, no more door slamming. For about 6 bucks and a few minuetes labor I have no idea why I waited. ;D

Re:Door hinge fix

I need to get on that myself -- problem is, the bottom hinge pin was through the bushing and into the bracket when I got the truck . Have a new hinge to put on -- suppose I better do it before the top gets out of hand.

Good job -- a stitch in time and all thet, eh?

Do you have the part numbers? I have looked and looked and have not been able to find the correct ones. I was under the assumption that you had to remove the dash cover to do the top hinge. Let me know what you did.
Thanks,

NAPA part# 675-5151. No need to replace the whole hindge. The hidges have brass bushings and removable pins that wear out. You simply un-bolt the door from the hindges and support it. Drive out the pins and old bushings. Replace beshings and drive new pins in. Very easy!

I was looking today @ bushings which are even a hardware stocked item. They are bronze and not brass- oillite bronze. But there are new style bushings which might be a better choice like mcmastercarr.com has 1677K4 which are oillite w/teflon.

Thanks,
You can get to the D/S upper hinge by removig the parking brake and reaching under the dash. The p/s upper can be accessed by pulling the glove box all the way down. Both lower hinge bolts can be accessed by removing the kick panels. If you remove them make sure you mark the locations with a sharpie.

Thanks!! I was reading some old threads.. got a piece of 1/2 steel tubing and I'm going to use either aluminum bronze or steel bushings which are stronger.. buy longer ones. Probably set them in the tube with bearing set. I'll use the flush style zerk fittings top and bottom hinge. That way, it will look factory on the top. Maybe a little cuter bore... Nas516-1a is the aerospace pn.
