doing valve adjustment, anything else need.....

Like I said before im doing the valves this weekend, and I would love to polish the covers while im at it, what is the procedure for this?
And is there anything else that needs attention while they are off, adjustments, Mods, things like that??? Thanks so much!

Not sure what the polishing procedure is, but you only need a pocketful of tools to get the valves set...and anything you don't have handy, my tool box has got 'cha covered

Take caution on the alternator method though, i think i may have adjusted mine backwards!

on the polishing im just going to use sand paper, 120 and up to polish them. good luck

I do have one question though, am I reading this correctly?????

"If no barring tool is available, the crankshaft may be turned with a 22 mm socket on the alternator pulley bolt."

Maybe this is just because I havent looked REALLY close at the front of the motor, but sence when is ANY accessory belt tight enough to turn a motor over???? especially a diesel???
Im assuming Im suposed to turn the alternator itself?

Yup, it works But, you've gotta rotate the engine backwards for the belt to get a grip.
