dissapointing dyno

I went to a dyno day last saturday and it was a little dissapointing. I only got 300 hp and 705 TQ. THose are not bad number but only up 7 hp and i was down 30 on tq . It was not only the same kind of dyno it was the excact same one . Between the dynos I added a piston lift pump cranked the fuel screw in another full turn and ground the fuel pin a lot. I know I need a torque converter but I was still hoping that i would put down better numbers (would have had one but had to buy a $250 starter). The weird thing is that I only got 15 lbs of boost on the dyno normaly i get 40 on hte street. And they pyro only got to 1000* its usually 1400* on full thortle runs on the street. Is this normal for the dyno or is something worng???

I am working on getting the sheet scaned and then i will post it

It's hard to get full boost with an auto trans on a chassis dyno. I had to put my truck in 5th gear to get close to my 34PSI on the street.

Sounds like the dyno did not load your truck hard enough.

It doesnt sound like the dyno put enough of a load for a good test.
You wont get full boost on some dynoes but from 40 to 15 there was something wrong.

I don't think you got 300 HP with only 15# of boost. I would expect, based on what I've seen with my truck before the twins, that 40 # of boost would get you in the 300 HP range. 15 pounds would be about stock HP of 160. Are you still showing 40# on the street?

Possible gauge problem??

Something is definitely not right. A Dyno Jet uses 5400 lb rollers and that is all the load you get - there is no provision for loading. It is strictly a inertia dyno. 15 PSI boost sounds low for 300 RWHP. I've got my wastegate set for 34 PSI and usually see 32 at WOT which produces 378 RWHP. Did you run it up to 1500 RPM then hammer it? That gives your turbo a chance to spool up and usually will give your best numbers.

When did you add the 3200 GSK? When we did mine I had to do a lot of adjusting before I got most of my HP back due to the fact that we almost had to back the fuel screw all the way out to hook everything up.

the spring was in for both dynos i put it in on thanksgiving night last year. And i have put a lot of miles on it since then. The first run it started at 1500 rpm the other ones went at lower rpm.

I am not postive that it was 15 lbs of boost but i do know for sure i was under 20 and that is one thing i know for a fact.

I looked at your sig and the sheet. You've done more on the airflow and on the turbo than I have, but I've done a DTT TC and ValveBody upgrade. My sheet (see my gallery) looks like yours, maybe better on the high end. I think your TC and transmission slippages are doing it to you.

Once you do the trans upgrades, your stats should be far better than mine.

OBTW, this was also a Dynojet and I didn't see full boost, either. Maybe 23. Then again, I never see more than 28#, even towing.

Did you run in direct 1:1 (no overdrive)?

Regards, DBF
