decisions decisions

ok after searching all weekend and part of this week i have stumbled across a delimma...i have found a getrag case for $150.00 which seems to be the going price...bearings and syncros on the way..get it together this weekend and have running by early next week...but in my search i have found a wrecked 2 wheel drive 93 truck with a manual tranny and 140,000 on the clock...same color as my truck and its an le with very good interior for $1500.00 frame damage and rad lost but intercooler is good and reast of truck seems good...would be nice for parts and a cab upgrade for mine not that theres much wrong except for manual windows and such..still lots of money for something to sit till i need it...would be cheaper by far to just buy the case and go from thereplus the case is out and ready to go..buying the truck i would have extra time in pulling and take apart ...thanks for your thoughts

I recently just did an auto to manual conversion on my truck. I ended up buying a donor truck with around the same miles, with total body rot and a flatbed. I took the parts I needed and sold the donor truck for 75% of what I purchased it for, as a guy wanted the engine. Remember the Cummins goes for $1000 and up in good running order.

Never a bad idea to have extra parts laying around.

If you have the room to store the donor truck then I would definitely get it. Never know when you will need some spare parts, but the cab and interior upgrade is nice as well.
