dead turbo, oppurtunity?

Stock turbo on 930 d250 just went out, bout 350000 miles. Haven't even pulled it yet. Just thinking though, rather than grab a another stock turbo, maybe yall could recommend an affordable upgrade that won't require a lot of other changes. Any other important info would be appreciated BTW, I'm fairly new to diesels still. Thanks!

hx35 is a small upgrade and would work pretty well with pump mods like yours. they can be had for relatively cheap if you look in all the nooks and crannies for them. a little better would be an hx40 but they make a lot of different variations of it and you would probably need a set of injectors. at least i know i do.

With the stock inj. the HX-35 would be enough upgrade. Unless you want to rebuild yours and add the 60 mm upgrade from gillete diesel. The exhaust should be 18cm now so no need to go to a 16cm.

Thanks for the info. In the search process I ended up with a steal on a brand new H1-C and picked up a 16 cm exhaust housing for a few bucks. It's been mentioned that I should change my piston rings before doing this. Can I do that without pulling the motor out?

There is no need to do rings. Just slap that turbo on and go another 300k.
