Mine is missing. There is just a hole there.

 

Or does anyone know where to get one? I need one too.

Mine is gone also. I found some led's to mount up there, as soon as I can come up with a mount.

 

I took mine out a long time ago, but found it under my seat a few weeks ago. Im gonna try to put it back, but if I go a different route its yours Leper.

 

Thanks man, I may go the L.E.D. route myself, now that you mention it.

 

I was wondering if it was an option that most trucks didn't get.

It's part of the Super LE package that Dodge pushed hard with the diesel. A "work truck" wouldn't have had one.

I did a little poking around in the sales manual and you could also have ordered the "light group" on any truck and gotten the map light. Without the Super LE package (or the light group) the only interior light was the dome light. If your truck has a cargo light, you have the light group.

 

I finally got a truck that actually had the light still in the hole, BUT no lense.

We have three Dodges with the cargo-light and the map-light hole in the instrument panel.

In a recent lengthy thread about the map-lights, I posted a link to a TECH article about reinforcing/rebuilding the flimsy factory mount that is the reason so many map-lights are missing.

 

like many of your trucks mine did not come with one either but I got mine off ebay for 5 bucks and it had a cracker lens so I went to the dodge dealer and they still have them, I think for 6-10 bucks Good Luck

 

I have had only 3 of 8 trucks that DIDNT have the light. I had a 93 base model (crank windows, rubber floor, etc) that had the map light. They all have the pigtail behind the bezel; sometimes you just gotta look real hard for it.

Mine has the hole but no light. The LED sounds nice though...

 

I'm with DP, only 2 of my 5 didn't have them. FWIW, the 2 that didn't were my 81 and now my 83 crew. They had the holes though.

 

I'm going to the dealership on Monday to get a new dust cap and I will check on the assembly.
