Am I missing something here? I looked up a 1st gen lift pump in yahoo. Piersdiesel sells it for 46 dollars. Thanks for your post. I am new to diesel and depend on your questions here so I know what to look for on my truck. Even though my truck runs great I guess i need to know if the lift pump is working right to keep the injector pump working. Cheaper to fix the small stuff.

Searcher, you have a stock diaphragm style lift pump. That is fine for a stock truck, and even for one that is turned up a good bit. What we are discussing here is a piston style pump that delivers a higher volume and pressure. This is needed with big injectors and internal pump mods.

I ordered mine about a week ago from Cummins, all came in Friday, installed today. Other than trimming out a section of insulation on the side of the block, it went in easy as can be.

Initial thoughts, it does seem to pull harder up to 3000 than before. Time for more pump tweaks.

Is there an online place I could order that stuff? I do have a new lift pump...still sitting in it`s box actually, but if I`m going to bother swapping i might as well get the good one right? (it`s a federal mogul replacement, diaphragm type).

Available at any Cummins location. Not sure if it is available online, though.

A little over 2 months ago someone posted part numbers for a piston pump made for a first gen, I ended up buying it all for about $160.
It maintains around 14 PSI I will try and find my reciept and get the numbers.

The last post on the first page has all the part numbers.
The gasket part number starts with 36 but is suppose to start with 39 like the rest of the part numbers
