D250 Leveling Kit?

D250 Leveling Kit?

I'm wanting to level out my D250. The driver's front coil spring is sagging, & the front end could use some bushings & alignment.

I'm wondering if the addition of the D350 front coil springs will help lift up the front a bit. I hear the Moog 7226S Super Duty Springs are pretty rough.

The rear looks fine, has clearance for 285's but I'm running 265's for now. With 265's up front it rubs all the time, so I'm running some 255's for now. I want to level it out. Is there any way to do this?

With the tax return money I'll be replacing the front bushings/brakes/shocks/springs & doing whatever else needs to be done including an alignment.

I can't find a leveling kit, or even a body lift kit for the D250's anywhere. I wouldn't mind a 2" body lift all the way around, for tire clearance.

Anyone got any tips?

I installed the MOOG 7226S springs and I really like them. They are a little rougher than the originals but my truck now sits level. I can even stand on my front bumper and it doesn't drop any. I now have the support to put a heavy duty bumper on if I want.

There is also a piece that can be installed on the drivers side spring but if one spring is worn, why just lift the front end up and still have a weak spring?

Like I said, I have em and I like em.

They raised the front end up about 2-3". Now my truck actually sits level. No pics but will try to remedy that shortly.

ARAcummins...these are for the coil spring 2wd front ends...the W-250's like yours are leaf spring solid front axle.

They are MOOG Chassis springs. Part number 7226S. They are the super heavy duty 1 ton springs. Any good parts store should be able to get them for you. Personally, I paid a little extra to be certain I got the MOOG springs instead of the off brand.

Keep in mind, this is NOT a lift kit. These are replacement springs for the sagging springs that are a common problem in the D250 trucks. I was actually beside a truck the other day whose springs were sagging so bad, my hood was 4-6" taller than his. His control arms had to have been riding on the bumpers.

Anyone know of a body lift kit for 2wd's? I can't seem to find anything on the internet. I just want to run 285's all the way around. Sick of looking like a redneck truck.

Jeremy -- where I comes from, rednecks run lifts and pimps run slammed trucks . . .

But I must be too old and out of touch, 'cause everything is too loud !

The body mounts are the same for D and W models, so any body lift should work fine. The problem might be that no one makes a lift with hardware for the diesel radiator support . . . I think I read that somewhere . . . even then, you should be able to buy a kit for an earlier truck, and make your own spacers for under the front clip. I used to use the old GM round rubber engine mounts -- they are about an inch thick, 2 1/2 in diameter, with a 3/8 hole in the middle.

hey Carl-
i was reading your input. you said you have them you love them. I am a contractor and use my truck daily for work and have racks and a cross tool box on the back. my truck, like most others, sits about 2 to 3" lower in front. I know that the HD springs lift the front end up, but does the ride quality suffer any? I am in mostly city traffic and I travel roads with lots of bumps on it and I just don't want my back going out of wack everyone I drive. I am extremely interested in buying these springs, but would like more info. Also, how much should I expect to pay?

The ride is a little rougher but I don't bottom my front end out when I am turning and hit a bump. Mine would also bounce aorund alot while driving on rough logging roads. Havne' had that problem since the springs. If you climb under your front end, you will see your bumpers are probably about an inch off the control arms. That is how mine were. They now sit about 4" above the control arms.

They cost me $149 for the pair. Parts store wanted to sell me the generic standard spring for about $75. I told them I wanted the MOOG 7226S and they ordered them for me.

Any other ???, just ask. I installed them at a NW Bomber BOMB party with the help of a few others. If your ball joints are questionable, this si a perfect time to replaced the lowers as you have to separate the lower control arm from the steering knuckle. I highly recommend air hammer pickle forks. I didn't have them and I had one very sore shoulder a couple days later.

FINALLY!

OK, I said I would do this and I finally got around to it.

A Couple of the pics show how the truck is levelled out after installing the MOOG 7226S springs. Lots of tire clearance on the front now.

Looks good Carl. I didn't think mine was sagging (Dodge front end) but I'll have to look closer.....Currently I have 265/75s with no rubbing issues but it might be time for a front end rebuild soon.
