Cruize Control failure

I just bought another 92 CTD.
The cruize does not work.
The speedo works, the cable is hooked up and has not slipped. the cable feels attached on the control unit end.
the fuses are all good,
What should I check next.
Any advise would be apriciated. Thanks
Frosty

Check clockspring under steering wheel that was the problem with mine.

Re:Cruize Control failure

Also check your brake light switch that is located on the back side of the brake pedal. The cruise will not work if the switch is bad.

Re:Cruize Control failure

Same deal when I bought mine, pulled the cover off the wheel to expose the switches and checked for power in and out. Turns out the "set" microswitch was bad on mine, replaced it, haven't had a prob since.

Re:Cruize Control failure

I hope you have better luck solving your problem than I have had. I have tested everything I can think of ... switches, wiring harness, clock spring, all the test procedures in the manual. The only thing I have not done is rent an OBD II tester and see if it gives me any fault codes. I guess that is the next step.

Re:Cruize Control failure

Thanks again.
Fortunately I have two 92s now The one has cruze that works like a champ. If I have any problems I can check the one that works and compare readings to the one that doesnt work.

If I step on the brake pedal and the stop lamps in the rear light up, that means the brake switch is OK then, or is the CC seperate from this?

Inquiring minds (ie me ) want to know of the CC fixes. I, like carl have checked everything and still can't figure this thing out . I'm guessing my brake switch works but you never know .

The CC contacts on the switch are NC, the light contacts are NO. It's all in one unit, but it is two switches.
