I installed crossover steering in my 93. No swaybar, however this is the only 1st gen i've driven so I have nothing to directly compare to. I used to commute on roads that took me direct through state forest,...meaning I drove the truck alot on old wagon trail roads. The truck handles great for a leaf spring truck however I'm airbagged in front which helps with body roll. I'm also mildly lifted perhaps 2-3" and I run the equivalent of 31's.

Noteworthy is the fact I had Alcan make new front leafs at the same time when crossover steering went in + I put in springless top balljoints from partsmike.com in the truck. This alone firmed things up in the front. I do enjoy not having bump steer up here on heaving roads in WI during the transition months in late spring.

I will be installing crossover and ditching the front sway bar on my '92/'93 club cab project.
I have not driven a truck before and after removing the front sway bar as a test, but I have several 1st gens without sway bars and they seem stable and fun to drive.

A quick and easy test would be to remove the links, tie up the sway bar so it is out of the way and go for a ride.

You might miss the sway bar if you have soft(er) springs more suspension travel.

My mistake guys, thanks for catching. Yes, I indeed meant springless kingpins,... not balljoints.
I checked my maintenace book and that was 33K miles ago.
