Over the last few weeks I had noticed the exhaust sound on Patches changing. Then last week it really started getting loud....could here the turbo catching it's breath on each shift so figured I must have a break/hole in the system some where.
Slid under the truck....-15*C on cold rocks is pretty sweet....and found that it had cracked at the 24" piece of 3" flex pipe I have in the system. Broke right off at the bad clamp, so removed the band clamp, excised the broken piece and there was just enough band clamp to seal it back up. Nice and quiet again....for now.
I'm running old exhaust pieces....but it's been holding up pretty well over the last 7 years, so as my Father was fond of saying....."You don't throw away gold..."
Eventually I will have to break down and buy a 4" system.....

Had to remove the HD bush front bumper to squeeze patches into the garage....and still not much room...but I'm tearing out all the drip rail sealant and redoing it all again. I redid it about 4-5 years ago? and it was worse then ever.
Still not going to be able to do it properly due to time constraints and room, but will get it good enough for now. Once I have a shop built I will pull patches for a month or so over the winter and redo it AGAIN. This time media blast the drip rails, weld up the existing holes from rust and try some of that good 2 part self leveling drip rail seam sealer etc.

I've decided to go wabbit cwazy with my ride, and on the week of thanksgiving, I'm having the roof sprayed with Linex. Yeah, I know that Linex is a 4 letter word to yu, but, the company local to me is the same powder coating company 'be used for years, and they're fantastic. They did my bumper on both my dodge and my box truck. They are color matching the linex, so it won't look like a cheap toupee.
Once they're done, I'm gonna fluid film the crap out of the interior through the sun visors and other holes around the roof perimeter, per Oliver
So far, all the linex I've had done by them has lasted years with zero issues.

Yesterday go the drip rails cleaned out....man that sucks getting the seam sealer out...heat gun is a must! Then a couple screw drivers and a pick or two.
Once cleaned out then some wire wheeling to clean things up as best I could. Then I put on a couple coats of a rust inhibitor primer with a small brush so as to get into all the nooks and crannies.
Once all that was dry I masked the truck up and then sprayed on 3 coats of primer....one full quart.

Today I put the seam sealer on.....man I forgot how much that job sucks! Now I see why the have self leveling sealers...worth the extra money IMO. Now I am just waiting for the seam sealer to dry a bit more and will toss on some white lacquer paint. It says you can paint after 30 min....but I want to give it a few hours to set up and dry.
Will let it sit and dry tomorrow and then get it back on the road.
And painted...

I did have to "touch up" some of the seam sealer after painting, it continued to shrink. I let it sit for about 36 hours....so should probably have let it sit for at least 48 hours of more for it to fully "cure".
Not sure why they claim you can paint in 30 min if the sealer will just pull away from what your trying to seal up....????
