Cpl 804
Cpl 804
Does anyone know if this is a cilinder head for POD or the later injectors. It's an engine from a bus or something with VE wich we are using to put in a boat. Also, I have a P7100, any kits available to replace the VE?
I found a great website qsol2.cummins.com for 50USD you find all the original cummins info you want.
Can someone give me a serial number of a 12V with 7100 pump to do some research?
Thanks,
Raf

My cpl is 804 also. My serial# suggests a manufacture date sometime in 1987. You most likely have the 9mm injector bores like I do. You can still use POD injectors, you just need adapter sleeves for the tips. They're only 8 bucks a piece, I think.
Good luck on the project!

Someone told me that if your converting a non ic truck to p-pump then the internal parts are different as well
"camshafts are different
injector tip holes in the head are different size on non-intercooled heads
injector lines are completely different
pistons
whole timing gear case assy
lift pump
and of course any pump brackets"
I didn't think it was that bad

All CPL 804 engines would have the same general configuration. CPL 804 would not have an inline pump, which is why a bunch of stuff has to be changed.
The different cam and pistons are a non-issue (the cam profile is a little different, and the rings were moved a little), and there are sleeves to put the late model injectors in the old heads.
