coolant system for veg oil

just wondering if anyone knows if there are multiple "coolant out" ports from the engine block?
here is a pick of the coolant line but wondering if either of the other two ports are coolant? and if so does anyone know the thread size?

Secondly, i was wondering if there might be any negative effects from running the entire coolant flow from the engine through a Flat plate heat exchanger, then a filter coolant wrap, then to a heated pickup and finally back to the cab heater? Besides having less cab heat, (which im fine with) im wondering if the flow restriction from going through the FPHE and 3/8" coolant hose wrap, would cause any problems?

You really need to put the veggie heating setup in series with the cab heater circuit or most of the flow will go through the path of least resistance - the cab heater.

You can't run the whole flow of the cooling system through that circuit, there is just not enough flow capacity and the truck will overheat. Leave the radiator alone and just tap into the heater hoses like everyone else does - it works!

no i wouldnt be changing anything on the rad, just the hose coming out of the block going to the cab heater.

im just a bit confused on what the difference would be between how it is (5/8" hose, cab heater, then back to the rad) VS. 5/8" hose, heat exchanger, filter, cab heater then back to the rad. Are the passages on the heat exchanger that much smaller then on the cabs heat exchanger?

I wish I knew more about/could explain how the heating stuff on the school bus I got my spare motor from worked. The heating system for a 40' school bus has a huge capacity, there are sometimes 8 high-capacity heaters and they have to get coolant all the way to the back for some of them.

I'll try to take a pic of the motor, it was yanked from the bus so it's kind of hard to tell exactly what was going on. But there was a lot of other stuff - there was some huge "junction block" type thing in the engine compartment that had far bigger ports on it than normal heater hose. There was also an electric pump presumably to help with flow to the back, but I doubt you'd need that.

You might try finding an older Bluebird to look at and see what they did with it.

That pipe plug on the T-stat housing is a coolant port, there are a few more around the head, particularly under the intake side. I think there are two under there. I seem to remember that they're all 3/4" MPT.

i could be wrong but the one on the top pictured here seems a lot smaller then a 3/4".
either way anything wrong with tapping into it?

Funny thing is I wrote 1/2" first but the pic fooled me into thinking it looked larger than what I remembered. At any rate, a standard pipe plug will seal the hole.
