Someone posted on here about doing this a while ago . . .
Here is the original thread
He took everything from a 3/4 ton donor truck, and it all worked out well. The frames are all the same 2wd and 4wd, diesel & gas, however, they changed the frames and spring hangers, etc. a little in '92, and I am not sure if if a 91 cross-member and hangers would fit on a '92 frame. You should be able to find a donor with the parts that you need, though, either way, and it is completely do-able.

i thought about that, my 2wd was in such GREAT shape i think it'd have been a crime to hack it apart. i searched the better part of a year but it was worth it. i found a 4x4 CTD for about the price of what i thought the conversion was gonna cost me (without a complete donor) if you don't mind being patient the deals surface from time to time. just a thought.

thanks alec but just to make sure i understand my truck is a 93 so i will need to find a 92 or 93 to make the conversion work or will that stuff from the older trucks work cause i got a line on 3 3/4 ton gassers that i could get cheap that are older. also the only differance in the dually front axle and the single wheel alxe is that there is spacers that bolt onto the hub that just move the wheel out a bit right? just checking. thanks for the info keep it comming if possable

Not spacers, they have different hub setups on the dually front axles. It's usually not hard to find a dually front axle that someone is looking to convert to single wheel.
You can use the parts off a GM D60 too.
Check the 4x4 sites. Pirate4x4.com you'll usually find someone selling off the dually front hat/hub setup when they build a front axle for their crawler.

I did this to a 85 crew cab gasser. I used my 91 ctd as a donor truck. The problem that I ran into was that the 80's and 70's truck that were gasser had six rivets holding the x-member in for both 2 and 4 wheel models. My 91 4X4 only used 4, so I had to locate that in the frame, lucky one set of holes were in the correct location. So I only had to drill 3 out of 4 sets of holes, something to look at.
Also I had to drill the holes for the shackle mounts. There are 3 that hold the shackle to the frame and one large one for the bushing to protrude from. I bolted the mount in using a 1/2 bolt 1 1/4 long and had to place a shime in to clear the head of the bolt.
I then used my 91 rad support x-member, but I have see guys use the 2 wheel drive x-member and torch the strut rod brackets off. I figured that I had to cut all but a couple of rivets out that I would just us the 91's x-member. Plus my 91 x-member had both holes for the rad support. My 91 had the holes futher out then the 85. Someing else to take a peek at.
All the holes you need for the front spring mount should be there just filled with a rivet that holds the rad x-member in.
Over all not to hard just a headache form using the air hammer to remove rivets.
