Complete aftermarket guages
Has any one replaced all guages with aftermarket? Need to do this for a project. Who makes a full line of guages that will work with a ve 12v? Off the top of my head would need pyro, boost, coolant temp, oil pressure, fuel (running off a Chevy sender in a fuel cell) Volt gauge, speedo, tach and maybe others that I've missed. What guages have you guys used and what did you use for senders? Fwiw I'm not using the factory wiring

I've roughed out a 6 - 2" with a 3" speedo and an 8 - 2" with a 3" speedo. The Autometer speedos are easy to set and come with a trip odo but no odometer. I do not see any reason why it would not work. All it takes is $$$.

What did you use for senders? What came with the gauges and used adapters where needed? I was hoping to use isspro on this build

This is on my to do list as I'm not using any of the factory wiring anywhere on the truck. I plan on calling Autometer to get their opinion/suggestion on what gauges and senders (electical or mechanical) would work best for my 92 Dodge cummins drivetrain. I hope to be at this stage in the next couple of months, the hot weather here in Tx has pretty much ceased any progress on my crew.
Keep you eyes peeled for update on my build soon.

I've given this plenty of thought as well but not crazy about losing the odometer in favor of a trip odometer. If they make them with a trip, why not a programmable odometer also? Auto Meter also has a custom shop. I was just looking at it last night. You could call and tell someone what your ideas are and pick their brain(s) or use their kit builder on their website to see the basic custom work. You can change face color, lettering/number color, needle color, needle hub color, etc. Kinda fun to play around with! It's gonna be at least $500 depending on the types of gauges you choose. 90deg. sweep electrical gauges will be far cheaper than full-sweep electrical gauge. Mechanical, of course, would be even cheaper but it's not recommended to run the tubing/hose into the cabin of a vehicle.

My thought was to remove the instrument portion of the dash bezel and replace it with a custom made instrument cluster. I feel that all after market electric guages - some of which I already have would be best. Rather than re-invent the Dodge wiring I would use only where necessary like directional/four ways, fuel level wiring and any other necessary inst. cluster needs. The existing cluster just needs a male plug in to use as necessary and another seprate plug to run the after market guages.
I have the following guages on SPDT switches to read from two sourses:
Fuel - reads aux fuel and main fuel.
Volts - reads key off key on.
Trans - reads both trans and rear diff.
Using an 8 guage plus speedo you can then read from 11 sources.

Have you looked into Westach's lineup. They have some interesting stuff.

Well it's just 93 power train in a 1950 chassis with no dodge wiring at all. The factory senders are still in the engine so it would be nice to use them.
Haven't looked into westach yet but I will.

After looking in my '93 Tech Manual I find that my Dodge fuel guages are calibrated to read the oppisite of the Autometer guages. In other words after you fill your truck it will read empty and as you drive it will slowly move to the full mark. I will have to talk to their custom shop to resolve this.

I should be ok with that, using a fuel cell with a chev sender.

Here is what I did with my 1988 gas truck.
The Autometer speedo does have both a regular odometer and 2 trip meters. It is programmable and works very well.
The fuel gauge is for the standard Dodge sending unit.
The directional, brake, and check engine lamp LED's all connected to the factory wiring but I rewired everything else since I was upgrading the wiring harness.

Looks good, thanks for sharing. What did you use for senders on The Oil pressure and coolant temps?
#14
The oil pressure is mechanical but I used a copper line. The others are all electrical and I used the sending units from Autometer. I verified the accuracy of them prior to installing them (engine and trans temp).
