clutch problem
clutch problem
I was driving around today like normal when my clutch pedal fell fully to the floor when shifting and did not come back up without force. i am fairly confident that the clutch is fine but rather the hydraulics of the clutch that are causing problems. is this common to anyone on this forum i have not seen much about it. also is that piece from the fluid resivoir to the actual clutch a single piece? if so what should a guy expect to pay for that unit? if yall have any more ideas please feel free to chime in because i am just kind of taking a shot in the dark with the whole hydraulics idea. its just hard for me to picture it being anything else...
thank you very much guys, austin

I just got my clutch done about a month ago but it was my throwout bearring that went out. I don't know much about the hydrolics thing but I think I remember someone talking about that. I have some pictures in my gallery of my clutch but I don't know if it would help.

It sounds to me like a bad slave, or possibly master.
To get the fluid line lose from the master, there is a roll-pin on the bottom of the snout that the line sticks in.
Push that roll-pin out with a small punch and pull the line straight out.
Check your fluid level before condemning the cylinders.
If the fluid level is okay, can you "pump" the pedal to get response??
Yes, the plastic line is a part of the slave-cylinder.
Probably best to just buy both, as it is hard to diagnose which one is bad.
Unless, someone knows a method of trouble-shooting that will pin-point which one is at fault.

would you happen to know the price on the whole assembly because i do not have the slightest idea how much to expect..the fluid level is fine and no, once the pedal is depressed, a whole 2-3 inches is all it moves, it is a pain to try and let/push the pedal to the disengaged position. the clutch sits about 4-5inches from the floor now having only around two or three inches of movement. it will however come back to normal position if i put my hand down there and try to push back towards disengaged position. im lost guys...
It sounds like you need to bleed the master cyl. out. You do it the same as bleeding brakes it just takes a little longer. Pump it a few times, hold down and crack the bleeder. When it quits running out close the bleeder and re pump. You may have to do this several times. Make sure your master cyl. does not run out of fluid or you will have to repeat the process all over again. You can put a tube clear is best on the bleeder and run into a clear bottle and keep the mess down. Also running it under fluid in the bottle may help form sucking air back into it. Good Luck As Bearkiller said it would probably be best to replace both master and slave cyl's.
