Clutch pedal bushings

Ok, Ya all know about a week ago I had problems with my truck not starting. Well thanks to Dave, I found the problem to be the clutch saftey switch. Now as I was coming home from work today I noticed that it was getting hard to shift. Well I pull into the driveway and usually I open the gate with the front of the truck. We live on a farm so the driveway has a gate so in case any of the critters get loose, they wont run into the road. So with the truck in 2nd, I move the gate and went to go back up. Well, It wouldn't go into reverse . Well after some, shall we say, encouragement, she finally shifted. I went to put it into 2nd again and it did the same thing! I couldn't get it to shift UNTIL I slammed the pedal all the way to the floor. The truck will sit and idle with the pedal all the way down and not move, but it doesn't seem like the clutch. As I was coming home it seemed to want to grind the gears no matter what I was shifting into.

So my questions are:
Is it the clutch pedal bushings
If not, what is it
If so, how much are the bushings, and part numbers
How long will it take to replace them

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Jon

On your slave cylinder, there is a roll pin that can work its way out and with this slack, the master cylinder cant fully pressurize the system, thus not disengage your clutch all the way.

But, since you say it wouldnt start the other day because of the safety switch, you could have a worn eyelet in your master cylinder pushrod. Remove the assembly from the firewall (turns counterclockwise when looking under the hood) and look down into the oushrod bore. There is a little clip holding it in the cylinder. Push this clip aside with a small screwdriver or pick and take the pushrod out. Build it back up with a welder and grind it back round with a die grinder and reinstall. Put new bushings in all around. They are like $1 something apiece from DC, probably have to order them.

How does it shift with the engine not running? I had the same problem when I put in my NV4500HD - it turned out to be hydraulics.

If the clutch pedal is approximately even with the brake pedal it's not the bushings.

Well, I finally went outside today (sick with something) and the pedal is about 1/4 - 1/2" below the brake pedal. I dont have a die grinder but is there something for a drill driver?? Thanks yall!

You may have caught it in time. Pop the little clip off and take a look at the plastic bushing, Dodge ought to be able to provide you with a new one. Part # 4446361
