clutch pedal stiffness

I was looking at another truck down at the dealer today. I cant remember what year it is, but it is somewhere between the year 1994-1997 cause it had the 12valve in it. The thing that I noticed about it that I didnt like was the stiffness of the clutch pedal. It seems REALLY stiff. At least compaired to me 2002. Did Dodge use a different type clutch back then? The clutch in my 2002 6 speed is about like my F-150 that I got. Really easy, and smooth to push in. Maybe it was an aftermarket clutch ??? But I dont think that it would be since it only had 88,000 miles on it. Does anyone know why this is? I havent had the chance to play with the clutch on any other of the older Dodge's, so I cant really compare it to anything. Is this just the way the clutch's were on the 12 valves? If so,,is there anything that I could do to lighten up the stiffness? Like maybe replaceing the slave cylinder, lines, and all that other type stuff that goes along with the clutch with something from a newer truck. Any advice would be helpfull. Thanks guys!

Re:clutch pedal stiffness

I was concerned with the clutch stiffness on this 95 I have my eye on and was pleasantly surprised how easy and smooth it was to engage/disengage. Might be something going on with the truck you looked at.

Weel, it was also an ST model. I dont know if being a cheaper package would effect the stiffness of the pedal or not, but its something that I would like to figgure out

The truck I was in was as plane as you can get em...so I don't think Dodge changed anything between models...try and find another one on a lot and check it out...

Re:clutch pedal stiffness

The other site had a post about this subject. Seems you can change the slave cylinder to a later one (bigger bore) and soften the pedal quite a bit. I believe it was a NAPA part.

Michael
