Clutch install help?
Clutch install help?
Need some advice about installing a clutch, guys. I don't have a manual or pictures and have never laid eyes on the setup, but I have some parts
I have the adapter, bellhousing and clutch release arm and will be stabbing an NV4500. I don't have any of the slave or other linkage parts yet. I see that these Cummins bellhousing have no removable inspection cover to aid in the assembly.
What holds everything together in the bell [slave/linkage] while you're stuffing the trans in?
Can you give me a list of parts that are necessary for clutch slave and release linkage?
This is by no means my first clutch install but it's looking pretty scary, especially working alone in the back yard with a funky tranny jack.....
Thanks!

I installed a NV4500 and NV5600 in my trucks. When you put the new style fork in the housing with the bearing it will stay in place, then stab the trans. From there I used a 94 up slave with the first gen master but that gets tricky. I read somewhere that you can flip the first gen slave around and it will bolt up but I never did it myself.

Thanks Frostie! I just got an e-mail from a buddy and he filled in the blanks on my parts: I'm missing the release arm retainer clip/spring! Well now, that's more like it. You were probably thinking that of course I already had that critical part. All this is so new to me I don't even know what's missing
Now adding your info it's looking GOOD! I'll be using the stock '67 Dodge clutch master for a while but will upgrade to something newer sometime down the road. These are sometimes hard to get, in which newer is better.
So, which slave would you suggest, 1st Gen or 2nd Gen? My guess is that I should match the bellhousing year [2000] & P/N ? Thanks!
