chasing hot duramax at pulls, more fuel?
I am reeling my friends hot D'max. Finished 5th to his 1st at a pull near the kansas border (bad axle wrap caused me to stop at 214'). That aside, I think I need a few more RPM to catch him so I think I'll drop in the 354 spring. I am running the WH1C14/H1E hybrid AND it burns up all the fuel on top end with the afc spring set light, PODS, BD fuel pin. Will the spring have enough for me or should I grind some of the foot off the AFC lever?

Grinding the foot is pretty drastic when you have big injectors. You can get almost all the fuel the pump has available with zero boost, this means you have to drive with a light foot at low RPM to avoid fogging the people behind you. It will add around 20 HP.
I don't think the 354 spring is going to help you any. The POD's are pretty much done by 2800 RPM. They are still pumping the fuel in, but it's not burning well.

Looking at the dyno sheet, I see no reason to even run your truck over 2400 rpms. Torque is falling off and HP is steady..might as well shift. Don't get me wrong, I WISH I had 300 RWHP on tap when I hit the loud pedal--those are some good numbers What I think Wannadiesel is getting at is that winding it up any further doesn't provide any MORE power than you had down low. My guess is this has to do with the sac-style tip of the POD simply not being able to fill fast enough to take advantage of a faster spinning engine. Thinking a bit harder, it makes sense, 'cause the POD is a marine injector that was designed around steady state (2400 rpm?) operation. JMO.

Getting myself back on topic, I think chasing a hot dmax with pods and a hybrid is a lost battle. If you're cleaning up PODs, you're gonna need more fuel to make use of more RPM. What's your fuel pressure at full boggie? Are you running the piston lift pump? The stocker definitely won't feed higher rpms than what you're turning now.
