Cab&chassis?

Can anyone say with all certainty that all c&c frames were 8" tall? I have a gas powered 1993 with an 8" frame but I am interested in a 1989 diesel model. Would the 1989 c&c also have an 8" frame? Thanks

I will check out the frame on an super rusty '89 C+C 12V W-350 dump truck I have in the morning for you and report back.
The '92 D-350 RCLB I am working on in the shop right now had a flatbed on it until recently, but I think it started life as a pick up, not a C+C. It had no bed on it when I bought it a few months ago.

I can't speak for the 92's, but there were and still are C&C's, and then there are bed delete options from the factory...There is a difference......Ben

The '92 I am working on in the shop right now has the C+C dually rear axle, so I would guess it was a C+C truck. The truck only had 200,000 on it and it doesn't appear to be swapped around.
The frame is 7 inches under the cab then goes to 8 inch right behind the cab.
I will check the '89 after the sun comes back out tomorrow.

My '77 W300 C&C frame (135" WB) is 7" and thinner gauge.

Cab and chassis trucks are way better than a regular dually or 250 Heavier spring not sure but I’d assume Heavier frame and the cab and chassis dually are narrower than a regular bedded 350 making it easier to drive around town if you were to.

Oli thanks for bursting my bubble. I am going to look at and most likely buy the 89 tomorrow if the motor runs clean, the Getrag shifts fine, and the frame is rust free. Although I have a 93 D350 C&C it being a 360/Auto has kept me looking. The price I have negotiated is worth the time to me to settle for the shorter frame. Sad thing is I already had the metal made to sleeve the inner and out of the 93's 8" tall frame as the ramp bed I have to put on requires the frame to be lengthened. Now I will have to do have new pieces made to fit the shorter frame.

Well even though the cab is shot, the right upper A-arm/ball joint is worn, and the radiator has a leak. I bought the truck because the motor runs nicely with no smoke and the getrag shifted nicely through all the gears. Oli you are right. It has the shorter frame. It has a Cummins Re-con engine in it though. Knowing I was heading down towards Baltimore I kept scowering FB and found a D350 front frame section with the front end minus the p-side lower control arm for $100. So I killed two birds on one trip and picked it up on the way home. I figure if I just use the upper control arm on the C&C it will be worth it.

That looks like a day well spent.
I have one of the NON I/C'ed Cummins Recon motors in my white '85 crew cab. It is a great running motor. I pulled it from a low mileage Getrag 4x4 C+C dump truck about 7 years ago that was rotted completely out, but ran and shifted great.
It was so long ago, I don't remember the frame height on that C+C I used as my donor.

RAM,
The frame of the C+C truck that donated it's powertrain for my white crew cab build was turned into a new KIA or the like many moons ago.
That frame was badly rotten, cracked and rusty. It was dragged down to the scrap yard once I removed anything useful off it.
I have seen enough variation of frame heights on Dodge trucks over the years, I would want you to measure it first, before I looked for a frame chunk to send you.
PM me an exact height of your frame and I will see what I can come up with, just so we don't de-rail this thread.
