cab from a 74?
cab from a 74?
i've gotten one "no" but don't want to believe it
. I have a 91 that i am looking to put a 4-door cab on. the 74 doesn't have the upper body line, i was looking at using my fenders and front doors with the cab and back doors. if it wouldn't work, why not?

The "different upper body line on the door" on the 81-93 ends on the front door. All the rear door shells were interchangable from 71 thru 85. The rear inner panels with power windows may be slightly different but since they are fiberglass they can be modified or repaired. You need to match the front fenders to the front doors according to the year range; either 71-80 or 81-93. I have all the parts to do a similar project on a 1990 W250 next year.
trebor (or anyone) i thought the rear doors were the same, and noticed on my 91 and 92 that the body line faded out over the corse of the front door, but will my front door mount to the 74 cab? i'd like to use my front door and fenders and only use the rear doors and cab out of the 74.

what do you mean by more rounded? the only one that should have to match up (assuming i can use my front doors and fenders) is the one that is about 6 inches or so up the door, you think that has a different shape to it or am i missing another line?
The 74 cab exterior wise is the same as a 81-85,
The "roundness" issue is true even with the 81-85 cabs (same roof pannels 72-85,) if you look at a 70's cab the roof is rounded as it approches the windsheild and rear window (side view) the 81-93 cabs have a slight break in the roof line front and back ( again side view) this is true even with the Club cabs.
The differances between the cabs is in the firewall. The heater box opening is different as is the electrical bulkhead conector opening. Both can be modified to suit your needs by cutting the later openings out and reattaching them to the older cab. other than that they're the same.See my pics for close up views of the front and rear roof profiles
