A/C lines

Where do I find A/C lines? They aren't available from the dealer anymore.

I can't remember where I found this or why, but apparently I thought it was good enough to hang on to . ..

Look into having your old ones rebuilt by a good rebuilder in your area.

What's wrong with your A/C lines? I think it was Jimbo who put a new'er style A/C pump on his NON-IC motor and had the lines modified. Couple new ends and away he went...I believe.

They are rusty and it didn't have a charge. I'm pretty sure everything but the pump needs replaced and the pump might be bad too for all I know. I'm betting custom lines will be in the future.

Any decent A/C shop should be able to make you up some lines...for a lot less money then NOS lines from Mopar would be...if you could even find any.

I know there are a couple sets of used A/C lines on E-bay...some for 89/90 trucks with the C-171 A/C pump, and some for the 91.5 and later trucks with the m ore common Sanden A/C compressor.

I make A/C lines at work on a GAtes machine, in the back of a napa auto parts store.

Do all NAPA stores do that?

Find a good heating/cooling shop that knows what they are doing. I have a good friend who worked in the industry for quite some time (about 30 years). He also worked in a shop for as long as I can remember but that shop recently closed. He still has his charging machine at home and I go to him and send friends to him for re-charges and diagnosis for cheap. I hired him to help with building new lines for mine just last year. Besides keeping the original #6 hose from the expansion valve to the dryer, we mocked all the new #8 and #10 barrier hose in place and he took the existing barbed fittings and flanges to a friend of his and to have new ferrules welded/brazed on and hoses crimped to them. He did it all for only $200, too! I was more than happy with that!

In my experience, I think you're better off working with a quality, reputable shop to do something similar.
