A/C Info

Does anybody know a supplier for our a/c compressor that is not as high as a cats, or is most part houses offerings going to be it?

What year is your truck. The 89/90 and early 91 Non-IC trucks run the old C171 rotatary compressor. The 91.5 on up into 2000 use a Sanden A/C compressor.

So you'll have the Sanden compressor. They are not badly priced compared to the diesel C171. My 89 has the early style and I can not find a reman unit anywhere!! Napa said they had one for just under $400 but when they check inventory it was not available anywhere in North America!!

I just bought a lower A/C mount from a 96 motor so I can run the Sanden unit.

Check Napa, RockAuto, and E-bay. Are you looking for new or used?

I will probably go with new, as I have been burned before by rebuilt and used parts. Was just curious if anybody knew of an application from other sources that would work.

I just ordered a sanden reman unit for my 89 motor from these guys...Thanks Mark for the link!!

I'm converting my, impossible to find Cummins C171 compressor, over to the cheaper, and readily available, Sanden set-up used on the 91.5-93+ IC motors. I've also purchased a good used lower A/C, and lower rad hose bracket. Will let you know how it works out.
