a/c ,comp. or clutch????

In hay field yesterday,,a/c sure felt good, worked good on drive home, headed back to field this afternoon," LOUD SQUEELING" clutch not turning, if it is the clutch ( that's bad) wouldn't it stay locked up,,,turn a/c sw. off ( real quick), no squeeling ,,,is the a/c unit locked up???? OH! mine's a 90 d350 , I know the a/c comp. been on it @ least 15 pluse years .

If the belt started spinning fine once you shut off the AC on the dash...then it's the compressor is locked up. Looks like you need a new AC compressor.

Or throw a NON A/Ced belt on your 12V and leave the non working AC unit right there.
It all depends on how important having A/C is in your work truck.
I have a spare old NON A/C belt sitting in the back seat of my A/Ced 12Vs for that very reason.
