hmmm...for some reason mine "was" different. The wait to start light doesn't light up at all but a buzzer, the same one you here when you open the door with the keys in the ingition went off for about 15 seconds.

I grabbed that f-er n ripped it outta my moms truck when I put the new stereo in lol forgot to put it back in when they sold it.

Every vehicle i've had has had em ripped out but I almost want it in my dodge remind me of climbing in my grandfathers first gen as a young kid.

The buzzers in all that I have removed/discarded have been YELLOW, and about the size of a pack of cigarettes.

The thing that gets hot and burns fingers is not the buzzer, but some sort of timer device for the lighted "halo"-ring around the switch-key.

The buzzer is found just behind the CARGO and OD switches, as someone already pointed out.

I believe that this is what you seek,. It is the first and only stock item that I ever removed from my rig. I hate buzzers...Mark

Sorry, I wasn't trying to tease. I took it out in August of 2001, on the day I bought the truck. It was also the day after I was given a cancer diagnosis. It has been in my glove box ever since and I really see it as a magic lucky charm. ...Mark

I really like the buzzer, it reminds me of my dad's old truck and brings back fond memories. Also, I'm really bad for leaving my lights on.

Everyone needs to train themselves to check and double-check everything before leaving a parked vehicle.

If someone is apt to forget the lights, they are also apt to leave the park-brake off and the crash they hear in Walmart be their vehicle coming through the wall.

I'm surprised you don't have a write up on that I always look forward to your ingenuity.

I wouldn't mind doing that with the buzzer in my '99 conversion van. Some of them came with a chime module, expensive when it goes bad, but still a much nicer sound.

Same buzzer through a lot of years, they are plentiful at the U-Pull-it junk yards. I think I have 1 or 2 laying around the garage. I don't necessarily ""like" the buzzer but I'm kind of OCD about everything working as it should

Hi Jim. I want to do this as well... and have been searching for any info for "How to" do it. This is the first mention of it that I've found. Can you please elaborate on how you went about changing the buzzer to a chime?
Thx!!
