Can you just yank the buzzer out of the block?

In other news, what if you have a Chevy door buzzle that has distortion. Instead of a clear "ding" it goes "Dingshh"... It's like a Steppenwolf-style buzzer...

But answer his question first before you acknowledge my hijack so I don't feel guilty.

i have been wondering this also. can you just pull the lead off of the esnsor in the door or will that set a code off that will cause some unforseen trip to the dealer to get the thigamajig fixed.

If you find the buzzer, you could drill a hole in it and fill it with RTV or epoxy. That'll silence it without giving the computer bad feelings.

Personally, I'd like to replace my annoying *** buzzer with a dinger. A dinger I can tolerate, a buzzer is just plain annoying. I'd disconnect the darn thing, but I like it to remind me when I forget to turn off the lights. I got spoiled with my '00 Blazer that had automatic headlights..

My blazer reminds me when I leave the headlights on but not the dome light. Got bit with that one again the other day. Those lights will such the battery dead in a night. Took all day on the charger to get the battery back. Thank God I had my CTD to take me to Sonic. Don't know if I could have survived a day without seeing a pretty HS girl bring me coffee.

You can inject different amounts of RTV in the buzzer to control the noise level. Put in a little and try it, if it's still too loud put in some more until you get the noise level you can tolerate. If you put in too much, well, then it's a quiet buzzer

Willie, that trick doesn't seem to work on my truck, (2001.5). On mine I just found the dinger under the dash (mine was a green module), and I pulled its plug. However that same module also controls my interior lights. Oh, well at least I know what to unplug when I want to work on it and listen to the radio.

I found that if I want to listen to the stereo with the doors open I turn the key to the RUN position and the door buzzer or dinger will stop in a few seconds. If I am doing something bad by leaving the truck on RUN someone let me know please.

Just that the ECM and PCM are both powered up as are all active sensors(sensors that require voltage to work). Why have all that powered up when you don't need to.

You can take a small piece of tin and a sheet-metal screw and make a "flap" to hold the door button in when you dont want it to activate the dome lights and buzzers. If you do want them , you just push it over.
Its what we used to do to patrol cars, so at night we could set them so the dome light wouldnt come on when you open the doors.....
