I bought mine right after Old Smokey hit the market so I did'nt have a dilema. I do like supporting the little guy even though it costs me a little extra.

I like dealing with DDP. Folks there are nice and will help ya with what you need. I called them on the fuel pin I wanted to install it that weekend with the 3200 spring I had everything lined up to do both. They had just sent out the last bunch made and weren't making any more for a while( I guess they make them here in Washington the state). They called a store back east and had one shipped to me by the next day air. I got it in time to do the work. Good people. You pay for what you get.

I bought my Bully Dog pin for $175 off the internet before I knew about Old Smoky. Sorry Mike!

Mike works (at least he did last spring) for DDP. He also did a lot of R&D for the pin. He offered to sell me a prototype in 02 for his cost (around $85) if I'd report back to him with results. Cash flow was tight at the time, so I passed on the deal. They are made in a machine shop of some quite hard alloy steel, and then cut out like what is shown in the pics and polished and whatnot. He also had the springs custom made to his specs. Seeing as how many guys (myself included) custom grind their pins, and the market shifting to new truck performance (honestly, do you see ANYTHING outside a Banks Turbo kit for 89-93 Fs or Cs?), I can see how the shop would have discontinued them. BUt it's disappointing, too.

I went with the old smokey pin beacasue at the begining of 2006 Summit & Jegs and just about anyone else had the bully dog one on back order. While waiting I learned the story of how bully dog actually bought a old smokey from DDP and duplicated it. I cancelled my order with summit and ordered from DDP that day. As others have stated, they were very helpful. Sold me the 3200 spring and pin for $200+shipping. Also you get a very cool DDP raised logo sticker.

DDP still lists the pin and spring together for $200, can we get a group buy going?

Unfortunately, I bought the BD, before I really knew about old smokey. I think I'm going to return it, and buy the original. It seems as if the steel is not the correct hardness (soft) as it occasionally galls and the pin sticks. The dremel and some fresh grease fixes it for a while, but it keeps haunting me. FWIW it does improve the power as claimed, but smokey proved that before they stole it!
