Building too much heat

Hey 1st Gen junkies, i have a 91 non-intercooled pickup. I have a new rebuilt engine with a 97 303 grind cam, fire ringed head, HX 35 turbo, 12cm housing, custom cut fuel pin and big injectors. Lots of fuel Pushing 40+ PSI of boost. I already have a 93 intercooler and tube, but i was more curious to know if anyone has ever used water injection on the VE pump motors. I would like to maintain my boost but i know i will lose it with an intercooler.

You won't lose much with an intercooler, especially if it holds air. Time for a bigger turbo or bigger turbine housing. You ain't making no power with 40 pounds of boost out of a 35-12. Still well under 400hp. Just a ton of backpressure.

more on building heat

Thanks guys I should be runing 14cm or 16cm housing on the hx35 I ve been trying out the 12cm just to see what it will do. It makes lots of back pressure but its so fast spooling its scarey. The stock h1 had 21cm lag canon well you guys know all about that. I have never got a hold of 14cm but which would be better 14cm or 16. O yea 89 ram I'm sure that the water is lots cheaper than a used stock intercooler. I was wondering if you have fabed your own 0r bought a setup. One water injector from scheid is around 300$$. I thinking of making my own also wonding if guys have problems with old ford diesels getting suck in your cross over intake?? Would installing the intercooler stop them from reching the engine? THANKS LOTS SMOKE AT YA LATER

I'm very happy with the water/meth on mine. The 14 cm is pricey but real nice. I had to go to it because I could not keep boost low enough without a wastegate. With a 16 cm I was pushing 50 psi.

You don't "lose" boost with an intercooler. The pressure drops because the temperature drops. You actually get a denser intake charge, which helps with power. The cooler air helps keep EGT down. There are no downsides to adding an intercooler other than the price.
