Bosch 190 injectors and timing

Hello!

I think I've finally chased down the vibration in my engine enough to give a little goose to the power.

I have Bosch 190 injectors from PDR. They recommended using the thinnest washers, which I did.

I'd like to know if anyone knows if these require more timing than stock, or if they act just like stock?

Basically, I searched and couldn't find anything on timing and Bosch 190s.

Unless they put different nozzles on,
they should be fine. unless your timing is off and was off before you installed the new injectors ?

Not sure if you have seen this or not

The 190's from what I've read have the same operating or "POP" pressure so your base timing should be good.

our 190's are stock Bosch inj's and nozzles. I do recommend bumping the timing for the added fuel that the inj's put out. Every engine is different but a good base to go with is 1/8" between the lines will lesson smoke, lower egt's and give you slightly better fuel economy.

I found with the 190's that anything over 17 degrees(ish), set with the dial indictator would slightly lower economy...

Roughly how many degrees is stock and how many for an 1/8" bump?

I don't have a dial indicator.

Thanks for the replies, guys!

Some engines like more timing then others. All comes down to how much you crank the power screw.
Approx 14 deg's is stock on the intercooled engines. No need to use a dial indicator, adjust til it feels right for your engine.
1/8" bump is approx 2.5 deg's.

Mark,

Thanks for the answers!

I bumped the timing and turned the fuel screw a bit for good luck. Definitely more power on tap...and definitely more black smoke. Not sure if there's too much black smoke at the moment...might end up backing the fuel out a tad.

Tighten up on the star wheel for best results.

I'll give it a shot, but I have one more stupid question:

Tightening up the starwheel is counter clockwise, correct?

Looking back through earlier posts, I found 1.85mm (stock is 1.4mm) lift was a good number for my 190s running the thinest washers available (.20"?). Tweaking the Star-Wheel cleaned up the low boost smoke.

(If you do get a dial gauge set-up)
