Boost Leak?

Just curious as to how much boost I should be seeing with my current mods. Truck moves pretty good but I was told I should be seeing more boost (I know this can vary a lot truck to truck). Currently I can hit about 20 lbs max in 3rd, and just a little more than 30lbs in 5th. Was told I should see 40+ from 3rd gear on so I'm just double checking if everyone agrees. Truck is unloaded and I did a leak test before intercooler install and didn't hear anything other than air leaking through the valves (similar boost number with 3" crossover) I have replaced turbo cartridge (for other reasons than just low boost) and checked Tial EWG. My next guess is fuel pressure or air leak in lines???

I like to tune my trucks to see about 30 PSI of boost max for safety reasons - head gaskets, turbo life span, ETC.

With the massive amount of non stock mods you have done to your engine it would be hard to guess at what the max boost might be though.

If you get 12 PSI from your LP, sounds like you don't have a fuel leak.

Welcome to DTR.

I don't have a fuel pressure gauge, just boost and egt. I just have the modified hungry diesel 12psi lift pump so I don't actually know what my fuel pressure is. That's why I am wondering if fuel pressure could be low due to clogged tank screen or I am getting air in my lines.

I see 39 with my mods and my fuel psi stays at 8, is your EGT's high ? lots of black smoke ?,

put a fuel psi gauge on and test for a boost leak using all your pipes and boots with a psi gauge on the leak tester, I wouldn't put more than about 15-20 psi in the intercooler, that should find a leak if there is one.

Hmm I'm thinking maybe I am good, since I have an manual transmission, slightly bigger turbo, 3.73 rear, and I am assuming smaller tires. I had some smoke up top before the inter cooler and now I can barely peg 1200* where before I would top out around 1350*.

Need to check it with one of these. Attaches to the intake of your turbo, and allows you to pressurize everything from turbo to intake manifold
