Ever just think you tranny is toast and it has black fluid in it??
The can looking thing your referring to under the exhaust manifold is the "heat transferer" for the tranny.
Then theres the tiny tranny cooler that is over top of the a/c condenser, its very small and is shaped to fit around the hood latch etc. etc.
I'd pull the grille and look for leaks around there....
your oil cooler is like down in a/c compressor territory... hard to get too, I think its like inside the engine block behind a cover.

i found it in the trans cooler. looks like it took a nice shot with a rock, oddly the grill was un touched. its been blowing into the fan hence why its all over everything. now comes the hunt for a new one

Now comes the hunt for an aftermarket better one. you don't have an intercooler so a bigger tranny cooler would be easy as heck to install.
The factory ones are so small. My dad and I were so surprised when we pulled the grille out of our 91 non i/c truck. its like a cooler shaped like a "U", it sits above the a/c condenser and wraps around the hood latch support.
its the stupidest setup i've ever seen
