Best bang for the buck

What would be the best options for mods on about a $1000-1500 budget? Y'all know what's done at this point. Whats next?

piston lift pump, guages, stroker cooler, ddp3. then save another grand for a real turbo.

What do you plan on doing with the truck? If you don't tow, I would hold off on the 'Stroker intercooler. A piston lift pump, bigger fuel lines and some injectors would be a good start.

The Jan. 2010 issue of "Diesel Power" mag has an article entitled "Power Recipies" and it gives suggestions for budget price upgrades starting at $1,500 and going on up to $10'000. You might want to pick up a copy as a guide.

I'd say a turbo upgrade and some injectors.

I guess I should have clarified a little. I've got gauges and a new clutch. 93's intercooled so is the intercooler you're talking about that much better? It's a daily driver and a hauler on the weekends.

3200 gov spring ( $15 )
Then I'd go like others have said for a piston lift pump
DDP3 Injectors to round out your $1200 bucks probably

Then save up for a turbo to clean up those injectors a little later on and you should be golden!

Well after looking at some stuff online here's my thoughts...correct me if I'm totally off. 16cm housing, and some sort of injectors, and possibly a piston lift pump. I've got the 3200 spring but haven't put it in. Anything I'm missing?

imo the 16cm housing isn't worth upgrading. I'd just save the coin and go straight to something better.

I also wouldn't get DDP3 injectors. Most people that run them regret not going bigger. Like DDP4 bigger. More expensive though. Unless you can get DDP4 injectors at a reduced cost like I did, I wouldn't buy them. They sure are nice though. For the price someone might as well just go custom, if they want to make power

I'd go fuel delivery - IE. piston lift pump and bigger lines. This should be just about tops on your list.

Maybe he351 (because it's cheap, and is a decent turbo)

Those 2 things should run you about $800-1000 together.

If you can grab an intercooler out of a 7.3 powerstroke that has the metal end tanks for cheap, buy it. Otherwise just wait for now.

After the turbo and fuel delivery done, I'd bottom the fuel screw if it isn't already

Do you have a 4" dp with that 4" system? If you don't have a 4" dp, I'd get one of those too.

you have a good idea...

but because you have a 5spd. go right for the 12cm housing.... wastegated of course. you could also find a complete HX35 turbo with 12cm housing of a 2nd gen for around $200....you'll get a neat whistle, pickup the MWE slot in the comp. and you'll get the quick spool.

message "alwaysworking"..he machines fuel pins and he has 5 different profiles. i think the M2 is great for 5spd trucks that work...buy one for $100 and you won't believe the difference.

PUt injectors last, you can have fun with the stock injectors.

Yeah I think an hx35 would be better than a 16cm housing if you can get one for $200 give or take a little bit.
I still think the he351 is a great turbo for the price if you can get it on there yourself and find one for a reasonable price too. I paid $330 shipped for mine + about $50 for a flange. If you can weld yourself it's not a big deal. It's the paying someone else to do the work that would make it not as worthwhile.

Get rid of the Bully Dog Pin.

3200 gov. spring, you won't be disappointed.

If going the HX35 route, I'd personally go with the 14cm. There is a noticeable difference in EGT's from the 12 to the 14 (we've tried both and prefer the 14cm). Like I said that is personal preference.

If you are going to blow money on injectors, do it right and do it once. I have wasted alot of time and money on injectors only to take the advice of many in the end and go with the famous 6x16's. I ran these with the pump detuned and a stock charger for a while before I did the S300 and then the HE351VE.

Just my personal opinion. Good Luck!
