ATF leak
I went to my fathers place the other morning and left my truck running in the driveway. My short trip turned into a half an hour talkfest and when I went to get in my truck I found this big puddle of ATF under my truck. I took a quick look of where it was coming from and thought I better shut this thing off. It looked like it was coming out the bellhousing inspection cover. I pulled the dipstick with it in park and running and the thing is full. I even left it cool down and checked it and it is full. I did the trans filter and filled it back up probably about a year ago and haven't touched it since. I don't know where all this extra ATF is coming from. You would think if I had it too full after the service it would have puked it out within a few days. But the truck drives and shifts right like it did before this happened. What do you guys think

Re:ATF leak
With a Chrysler trans you check the fluid in neutral, not in park. You will get a false reading checking it in park. I would think you have a bad front seal on the tranny.

thanks holsteinman, I should have thought about that. I will check it out next time I drive. By the way I also work with holsteins. Twice a day, 365 days a year, right around a 100.

Re:ATF leak
One more thing about your leak. My brother told me that you should have a vent near the front of the tranny and that might be where the fluid is leaking out. I was told when the tranny fluid gets on the hot side it can leak out there.
I have been around cows all my life. Right now where I work we are milking about 150. At one time the farm was milking about 320, but very bad stray voltage problem changed that.
