Anyone replaced Windshield washer pump switch?

I know my pump works because I tested it directly from the battery.
All my fuses are good, so It must be the switch or a bad wire.
Wipers work fine on all speeds.

Anyone replaced the switch? Can they be taken apart and cleaned?
Is it a PITA to replace? Source for a new one, or is this a junk yard item only?

I didn't know much but I think you could wire it to a push button switch. You could wire it to the old school dimmer switch for headligts that is installed on the floor. I think that would be cool.. Just an ideal.

If it is the same or similar switch as the later 91-93's, then the answer is no. It is a sealed unit. I replaced the multifunction in my 91.5, it wasn't that hard to do.

Yes this was going to be my alternate plan if a new switch was unavailable or too much $$.

But, I took of the end cap and barrel on the wiper lever and pushed on the rod and heard the sound of the pump!
So apparently there was some crud in there preventing the button from moving all the way in because now it works.

Rockauto has the switch, but it does not include the stem. It would depend on whether the problem is in the stem or in the switch...Mark

It is acomplete assembly. i just changed one in a customer's truck at work awhile back. They are very easy to change & quite expensive.

Really? The photos don't show the stem, just the switch and wiring. You got it from Rockauto and it has the stem? I ask because my stem is broken and every one I looked at didn't show a stem, so it got the JB Weld treatment...Mark

There is a split in years, 88-90 uses this switch, http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...310&cc=1086050
I just replaces one like it on my Jeep and it was a real pain. May not be as bad on a Dodge.

Nothing wrong with my switch, but i am thinking of putting a momentary toggle in parallel with the main switch so I can shoot some fluid on the windshield before the wipers run.

The steering column was built by Saginaw/GM. The same (or similar) stem is used on a lot of vehicles with Saginaw columns including my Jeep. Start checking those and I'd bet you will find one.
