Low Windshield Washer Lamp & Chime

Over the past couple weeks with the temps below 55 degrees, the grid heater lamp comes on, I wait until it has gone out and then start the engine. After the engine has been running about 15 seconds, the "Low Windshield Washer Indicator Lamp" illuminates and I get a single chime. The first time, I had to check and found it to be about 3/4's full. The manual states that the lamp will stay "on" until fluid is added and the ignition switch is cycled one time after filling. However, after about 10 minutes of warming up and driving, the lamp extinguishes on it own (contrary to what the manual states). The dealer can't find anything wrong by the time I get there as the lamp has gone out and there are no codes thrown.

Anyone else experience this problem?

My 06 does the same thing on occasion. I have found mine only does it right after I go through the high pressure car wash. Why it only does it then, I don't know. As long as my washer fluid is full and light goes out. I kind of just forgot about it. It must have something to do with the temps.

Sorry, I can't help you with your problem. This just reminds me how much I like my truck compared to the F250 I drive for work. Not only does it have no chime, it won't hold a full gallon of wash!

Sounds like you have a bad connection. Should be a sender at the bottom of the tank. Maybe near the washer motor. Give it a quick check. Wiggle it with truck on and see if you can make the low washer fluid light come on.

Spooler,
I've tried that thinking it might be a loose connection but that didn't help.
It still doesn't explain the fact that it only does it when it's cold out. On the trip home in the afternoon, it doesn't do it at all. The next morning, it will come on and then go out after about 10 minutes of driving.
Above 50 degrees, it's fine and never indicates low washer level.

I went back to the dealer I purchased the truck from and they said they have seen a number of the sensors exhibit the same functionality issues in cold weather (<40f). They ordered a new sensor and it will be in next week. That's the last time I go to the closer dealer!

I know this is an old thread, just checking if the OP's problem was fixed with the new sensor? I am having the same problem.

I have replaced the sensor on my wife's old truck, and a few on some of my friends trucks. They were not doing this because of the cold, but they just quit.

I don't think that the part was very expensive.
