Anyone have windshield washer fluid heaters, and/or heated wiper blades???

I've been looking on teh Geno's website, and they offer a windshield washer fluid heater and heated wiper blades.

Anyone running this? or have experience with similar systems? Its gonna get cold here soon, and I would to be "ready" if possible.

Any thoughts on this stuff? Good/bad/unreliable?

Thanks.

Sounds to me like it fixes a non-existant problem - kind of like the manual transmission filter kit.

But if it floats your boat - I say go for it and let us know how it works, who knows - it may be be next best thing since sliced bread.

I dunno, I work every winter in the freezing north mountians and tons of driving. I'm always cleaning the ice out of my blades.

Igor....I have the heated wiper blades from Geno's. Just put them on a few days ago...they work much better in the rain than the stock blades...but the jury is still out on how they do in the snow as we haven't had any yet...I too was forever reaching out the window, in the winter, and smacking the ice build up off of the wiper so I could see.

I am interested in the heated wipers too. I have been told they are great until its REAL cold...and then they clog up with ice. REAL cold meaning -35F or colder. UP HERE in Sask at that temp we rarely have snow...its actually too cold for the precipitation to form. Blowing ground snow at that temp just flies off.

The washer bottle heater is not going to do much for the truck when I have washer fluid in there rated for -40F anyway. Never once have I had the washer bottle freeze.

Here's a site that sells that stuff:

I have both the heated washer thing and heated blades, but haven't installed 'em yet. They got accidentally left in my storage unit when I started moving to Montana.... going back over Thanksgiving to get the rest of my stuff.

I hear ya Scotty, -30 and colder there's no snow flying around. My washer fluid has never froze but to have warm fluid spray on the wiper blades to remove the ice would be nice. What does this washer fluid heater consist of. Is this an element run off of 12V from the truck. What if you could route hot coolant into the washer resevour via a small heat exchanger that you could turn on or off with the seasons. Hoover Dam, now I've got an itch to try this and sell it for "one million dollars, HA HA HA"

You can check it out here http://www.genosgarage.com/CoastalDa...D=1421&CATID=1 this thing heats up to 170 deg. in a couple of minutes, looks fairly easy to install, and has a 3yr. warranty. They say it works real good on bugs in the summer too makeing it something you can use year round. If your on the highway a lot sounds like a good investment. I think i just talked myself into getting one

washer heater

I ha one in a Saab 99 years ago in Wyo. It was a section if metal pipe that replaced some radiator hose it was wound with a small metal pipe the size of washer tube. the fluid ran through there and picked up heat from the coolant

worked great

im interested in the wipers too. I hate the ice build up I get when wheeling in the snow. Does anyone know how durable these silcon blades are? Will ice on the windshield tear them up? I was looking at that heater thing too but I'd be concerned it would crack the windshield. 0degree glass meets 170degree liquid..pssss CRACK.

Guys, the heated washer fluid is not to keep the fluid from freezing but for clearing a frost covered windshield and evaporating before it refreezes. Suppose to clear off dirt much better in the cold. Try washing anything with cold water versus hot. I like it but I'm waiting for Igor to torture test it. ks

Well I'm still waiting for Geno's to send me all the stuff....I guess the bite box is on back order, so am waiting for a few weeks now...no word.

I also got a painless wiring harness that I'm gonna plumb into the truck for all my accessories and stuff, so will still be a little time until I get it going....guess it depends on two things:

my time off with work,

and,

Genos'......
