ALUM Wheels????

Been looking around at Alum Wheels for my 93 D350. From what I've been told, it's hard to find because the 93 D350 has the line up stud. Most of the Alum wheels do not have a hole in them for the line up stud. I've been told I could knock out the line up stud on my truck ??? Any suggetions ???

AFAIK, the locating pin makes sure the doofuses at tire stores put the rear valve stems opposite each other rather than in the same hole. I don't think there's any reason you can't knock the pins out and use normal dually rims.

GaCamper;
I was looking into the same thing, :- the folks I talked to seem to think going to the non-coined wheel 94 and up with the lug nuts w/ a shoulder on them to center or align the wheels would also be a benifit. I'm planning changing over to them and will use a cutoff wheel on a dotco to remove the locater pins.

Ramguy,
Which brand did they suggest to use? After searching around I have found that there are many Alum Wheel manufactors out there. Any suggestions? ???

Re:ALUM Wheels????

Gacamper, Alcoa makes wheels for the early models. The guy I bought my truck from put the cone style nuts on everyother stud, trying to cure the shimmy. It didn't fix it. I put the regular nuts back on the front wheels and TORQUED to 300 ft. lbs. This helped a little, but the biggest problem is the FIRESTONE tires. Left front tire is going BLAP BLAP BLAP from the flat spots.

Re:ALUM Wheels????

I have to agree with the Alcoa suggestion. Even though my W350 only has single rear wheels, I have a buddy with a duramax and Alcoa 19.5 inch 10 bolt semi truck wheels. Man do those ever look sharp. He had adapters made to change from the 8 bolt to 10 bolt, but he is also one very wealthy guy....
Good luck!
