Air intake pipe
Air intake pipe
So, I have the BHAF & the 16 cm2 turbo. But I am still using the stock air pipe?? that goes between them. What does every one use to make a straight shot from filter to turbo? I know I need to pick up 2 45 degree elbows to complete the package. Is it safe to use 4" PVC tubing? Should it be metal? Could I use stove pipe stuff? I can think of several things to use that are 4" in size but what is preferred?
Thanks.
Thanks.
see my memebers pics for my set up. everythign came from an online vendor air flow systems i think.
i got a 1 ft piece of their 4 inch alum tubing, its thinner and connects easier to the elbows as well.

Thanks to both. I am out surfing right now checking out there site. Looks like that will be a done deal. Thanks again. Straighter flow should equal better HP. OK, maybe only a hair better.... but better.
Let me ask this question then. Should I go with the 4" piping (need to measure for length) all the way through it from start to finish or should I get the 5" piping and some how shrink it down to the turbo size? I assume 5" would possibly give me a slight more volume and shrinking it down would increase the speed of the air as it compresses which might help with boost?? Not sure just thinking about it. Need to take measurements of both my BHAF and stock filter and also turbo size inlet.
I don't think changing sizes would be productive.
The best way to do this setup is to put a really short piece of pipe (like 3 inches long) between the BHAF and the elbow because the BHAF was designed to clamp over a 4" pipe. The elbow butts up against the BHAF but doesn't clamp over it when set up this way. You can stretch the elbow to fit over the BHAF but there's not much room for the clamp, it's better to do it the way I've described.
You need two 4" 45 degree boots, 5 clamps, and about a foot and a half of 4" pipe. Aluminum tubing looks cool, but exhaust pipe or PVC will do fine too.

Thanks Dave. I have noticed that the stock pipe doesn't clamp the best over the BHAF but it does do it. Just crank down rather good on the clamp. But I like your idea better.
Jimmyctd: I like your BHAF mount.. LOL. Trying to save some weight using Cloths Line. Good choice.
