air intake heater ?s
Hello, I was just curious if this is ok or a sign of something going wrong. When I start the truck in the morning the voltage drops to around 10volts when the intake heater kicks in. Is this a normal ammount of voltage drop? Thanks in advance

Yes it is vary normal, the heater take a lot of amp's in short intervolts and the bat,and alt, cant keep up.
if we had 2 bat. instead of just one, it would help the vast sweep of the guage,as the heater syl on and off.

Mine aren't even hooked up.
Could you incorporate a big toggle-switch, or battery cut-off switch, in the wire that controls the heaters, so that they could be switched off in the summertime??

Yes you can insert a simple switch to disable the heater relays. It wouldn't need to be a high amperage switch as you're only working the relays.

The manifold air temp at startup has to be below 59 degrees to activate the grid heaters. Very early trucks did not kick in until a frosty 15 degrees. The grids cycle for a predetermined period of time after startup, this varies depending on how cold it is. The only sensor the controller uses is the manifold air temp sensor, and it only looks at that when you first turn the key "on". Speed and engine temp have nothing to do with it.
