Air in fuel

Just replaced the lift pump on my 91. Manually priming it I get foam from the bleed screw. I pulled the screw completely and when I pump it get a nasty, airy foam instead of liquid fuel. Obviously I've got air in the system from somehwhere. The question is where. Is it possible that the tank is all foamed up, even though it hasn't moved more than 20 feet in a month? Help.

I would find that pretty odd. when I replaced mine I just pumped the lever a bunch and it fired up and ran fine. check the snap on connecter on the feed to the LP and make sure its sealed then slowly pump so more and see if it gets good.

Check the rubber connecting lines at the tank. Mine were hard and splitting apart. The steel lines looked like garbage too, so I ran new rubber from the tank to the pump.

Bed coming

The bed is coming off sometime this week or over the weekend. Gotta get the loader back on the tractor to lift the **** thing. The tank has 22 gallons of diesel in it, so I don't want to drop it unless I HAVE to.

Pitch that bed and throw a flat bed on, you'll never go back!

With the flat bed, I was ablte to sit right up and work, I could reach everything on top easily. It has been great for all the other repair I've made too.

Almost starting

I replaced the lift pump and the fuel lines from the tank to the LP. I now have good, liquid fuel at the bleed screw. The truck cranks, almost catches and then cranks, almost catches, etc. I am getting smoke from the tailpipe now, a very good sign. But I can't quite get it to start. I'm constantly charging the battery from running it down cranking on it. I'm so close I can taste it, but still not quite there.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Injector bleeding and gray smoke

I did bleed them. 1 question though. Should I be seeing a spurt of fuel or a dribble? I'm getting consistent gray smoke from the tail pipe, like it is trying to fire. Other posts have mentioned timing problems causing gray smoke, but I never jacked with the timing.
