Affordable 950 cca Battery for 1st gen

I found this Napa battery for $99. Fits the 1st gen tray just fine. Spins her over really good at 20 degrees. It was in the low 20s and down to 17 last night.

Thanks. Looks like a good deal. Unfortunately I just got a new one from O'Reilly's. Somebody else may be in the market. Are the posts on the engine side with the positive post toward the back?

That looks like the same battery I have had in my black crew cab for the past few years.
It works great for what I need.

It was below 25 all night and 23 this morning. I let the grid heater cycle and the truck still turned over well and fired right up with no stumbling.

I have been having great service from the Costco brand batteries...Kirkland. Been using them in all my junk for at least 10 years. Been getting on average 7 years out of the batteries.

Tcows... Costco has good return policy on most everything ... have you had to return one of their batteries?? Any problems??? I assume they also give back a core charge on the purchase price?

Last time I checked Costco DOES offer batteries in the Grp. Size and capacity we need for our 1st. Gen’s in Canada, but NOT in the lower 48. I know for sure NOT in Calif. because I would be running one if they did !. Lucky you T’cows !

If anyone in California knows how to order a Grp.31 battery from Costco please let the Forum know.

Costco is great on their quality and returns.

There is a used Interstate batteries place here in Chico CA that tests em, and I just walked in and asked for a used Group 31 900-1100 amp..........$60 and a 90 day warranty and tested at 1158 cca, Walmart had a year for $300 but for $60 I took my risks. 2 years later and battery is still kickin.

Believe it's total replacement up to 24 months, then pro-rated after that. Think they are warrantied over 84 months? I returned on once at about the 5 year mark....not sure what I got back for it, but it was something towards the new one. No issues with the return either.

The one I'm running now is 1000ca, and about 850cca I believe? Been firing the truck up in our arctic weather with no issues.

Yes I am, but have forgotten a time or two..........it has rolled over fine and fired no problem, even after cycling the grids 2-3 times.

It was 32 at my house this morning. I plugged the truck in for about an hour before leaving for work. It still turned the grid heaters on when I turned the ignition on. My little 760 CCA AGM battery still turned old smokey over and it fired off.

I have been getting a little worried about it lately as this is the coldest winter we've had in at least 4 years and probably more like 8. So I've been gathering stuff to add a second battery. I can come up with these batteries for free once in awhile so it's cheaper to just add another battery.
