Aero Turbine Muffler
So Aero Turbine who has one or used one of these muffles?Right now i have a 5" exhaust from the tcase back with a semi truck resonator and it hearts my ears
.So i straight piped it and its a little better but not much.It is worst just or idle and at 50 to 60 k/m in 4 gear it rings your ears.So i thought i would put a real muffler in and heard about this Aero Turbine thought i might try it.

My 4" with a Magnaflow in front of the rear wheel is not objectionable at all. I followed someone's suggestion from awhile back when I was researching this issue to get it terminated at least a few inches outboard of the body. Supposedly the outlet being underneath the bed or too close to the body causes a resonance that amplifies the sound. Seems to work pretty well this way for me:

What size is the rest. I know for a fact that you can go 4" if you remove uper t-case brace from the trans crossmember. I went 5" but you dont have any extra room. The 5" down pipe was the hardest. If you have the stock pipe dumping into the 5" that can be the prob.
I have the stock DP with a section of 4" flex from the DP to the muffler. There is near zero clearance past the t-case, as you mention. That's why there is a portion of that flex pipe where goes past the t-case wrapped in duct tape to eliminate the vibration noise and abrasion where it contacts the t-case and crossmember mount.
I plan to get it installed properly with a rubber-bushed mount to the crossmember bracket at some point when I upgrade the turbo and go full 4" from the turbo back.

I've got one on my truck. I used to have 4in straight pipe but it hurt my ears to mch drone so I put an aeroturbine w/ resonator on and it got rid of drone. I like the sound but they are kind of $$$.
got one 4040xl
YES its the stock down pipe into 5" over the axle.but i plan on going to the bigger down pipe soon.also plan on going to 4" if the drone is still to bad.ill have the reprot on the muffler soon

with my full 4" or full 5" the drone was not bad at all so that makes my think that the small down pipe into the large pipe is what is cousing the prob. I built a full 4" for a friend and it sounds fine in the cab and great out side.
I have a 3" down pipe to a 4 " line starting at the bell housing all the way behind the rear wheels. With the glasspack I couldn't hear myself think when under a strain and the drone was deafning. So, I bought a 4" X 30" muffler from NAPA and it sounds better to me. The muffler was for a school bus with an 855 Cummins, so it has got to be right
. Well, it works. There is a little more back pressure which probably accounts for me hitting 1450*F Saturday while showing off.
And a dirty BHAF.
