I have a 93 w250 automatic when I put shifter in 1 it drags and hardly moves,put it in D it starts out in 2nd and shifts into 3rd and 4th I adjusted the bands,no change also found the cable for the throttle lever is froze up. Can anyone suggest what I should look for?

 

A new cable would be the first thing you need to fix, that will allow the throttle valve to do it's job correctly

 

In manual low the throttle cable would not be in play. Dragging and hardly moving tells me something is seriously wrong in there. Time to pull it out and tear it down.
