Trouble after moving throttle linkage!

Yesterday I got bored and decided to move the throttle to the top hole. I could tell a difference and would like to keep it this way. However, after I moved the linkage my truck seemed to not shift as hard. Now I can barely feel the shifts, but 2nd gear is at 15mph and 3rd is at 25. Before I belive it was 20mph and 30mph.

How do I need to have my TV cable spring setup? I just moved my spring to the previous hole which my throttle linkage was in. What kind of setups are ya'll using for the TV cable spring?

Thanks. Justin

When you move the spring to the outer hole, It pulls the tv cable towards the front of the truck...thus making it shift earlier...

so adjust the TV cable towards the firewall... theres little notches on the rubber thing where it goes into the bracket... instructions on TV cable adjusting are in the "STICKY".

Also make sure you are getting full throttle. When I move the linkage on my truck I had to clearance the side of the pump top to still have full throttle.

I'm fairly certain you have that backwards. The more you push the cable in, the more line pressure is created and the harder the shift. This also affects when the shift occurs, the more its pushed in the later the shift.

yea you're right now that i looked at it, the throttle linkage moves the opposite way i thought it did,

In that case i don't know why his truck did the opposite of what you'd think it'd do when you move the spring, possibly because it takes less throttle to get it to a certain point where it hits the end of the tv cable slot.

Especially if you couple that with the 3200 gov spring. Takes very little throttle movement to make the power to go, but then the tranny thinks you're giving very little throttle so it shifts as soon as the VB will let it. I think it could all be fixed with changes inside the VB but you have to go internal!

that would make sense. I will have to give Goerend (i have their valve body) a call and see if they have ever ran into this. Mine situation is not as bad as others but it still annoying. Towing and racing is when it is a pain.

I have the 3200gs and also moved the throttle rod to the inner hole and it didn't affect my shift points at all, and I've never touched the TV cable. But my Dads truck on the other hand is fairly stock and his is terrible its in third gear by 20-25mph. I got a chance to look at his tonight and I can tell by eye that the cable adjustment is way off so I'm going to play with the adjustment Friday and see what I can come up with.

can't you drill some holes or something in your valve body in a certain spot and help things out a bit? I think they did it on JQmile's truck in diesel power mag or something. I'll have to flip through my old copies.

I had the opposite problem with mine. Mine shifts way to high of an RPM now. 3rd is at ~35mph and bangs into gear. I haven't had time to mess with it yet.

Another thing to check is the the tv cable mount at the bottom of the firewall before it snakes back to the trans... if that mount is broken or popped out the shifts will be all over the place sometimes high sometimes low as it allows the whole cable to move and not actuate the lever on the trans... Thats the very first thing I fixed when I got my truck.

Thanks for all the help. I haven't been able to get on here the past couple days due to school keeping me busy.

I adjusted the tv cable and it made a huge difference. It changed the shifts and the firmness. I'm happy with it now.
