A518 Trans Quandry

OK.. 1993 D350 auto, non-lockup..

Last April, I started having a squealing noise in first gear, intermittently.
Thought it best to get it repaired BEFORE it became an issue(ha!) and took it to a shop with a great reputation.

They did the work, and when they went to road test it, they discovered that when it went into 3rd gear, it also went into reverse.... cracked the trans case....
They replaced the case and had the same issue.... so they tryed replacing the valve body( several times) and could not resolve it..
So they tryed a case from a '97.... no luck..
So now I am being told that they HAVE to use a case from a 91.5 to 93 because they are the non-lock up models and the lock up cases wont work....its Sept and I still have NO TRUCK!!!
already had to cancel the horse-back vacation we had been planning since last December for this summer, as well as this week I had to pay an extra $200 to have my hay delivered since I had no way to haul it..
The shop is telling me it could be anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months before they can find the correct case...
any thoughts?? called a local trans shop and they confirm that the non-lock up cases are "rare to find" and that the lock up case wont work...so any ideas??
I WANT MY TRUCK BACK!!!

About 8 or so lines down (A518 Diesel). There's two of them. It seems there might be a difference in "Case Connector"? 0.900" and 1.08".

These are used parts.

Try these folks, they're 20 minutes from me. It's best to call, the parts search never returns anything useful. http://www.palmerbrothersdodge.com/

I might be wrong- but I don't agree with them one bit.

I think any A518 case will work- they were put in most of the Jeeps, but jeep was always the test bed of newer things before the trucks. Even a 6 or V8 A518 case is the same.
Could probably lay hands on many easily.

Need to be a 91.5-93 [Diesel case only] the gassers cases have a diffrent bell housing and bolt pattern. it may be easer to find a compleat core transmission than a just a case Ken

why will a A618 case not work? That opens things up to a 91.5-95. If he can't find a case... I have a dead 518 trans which you could buy when I turn in the core.
