93 W250 suspension questions
Greetings,
I have a few questions about lifting a '93. I think most know there is a supreme lack of diesel specific w250 lift kits, at least in my searching over the last 4 months. In saying that, I have seen repetitively folks mentioning using a superlift kit. I am curious as to which kit is used, and if an add a leaf had been added to the front to handle the extra weight of the engine, or does the kit adequately support without premature sagging.
I have also contemplated using, perhaps springs from say an F-350, but finding out spring rate and eye to eye distance for matching has proven to be kind of difficult. Additionally, I have looked into having the spring packs re-arced and add-a-leafed, but I haven't found enough information that would give credibility one way or the other. I admit I have toyed with the idea of converting the front to coils for a newer 1-ton dodge lift, I have the capability and the tools for it, but the down side is the amount of work involved.
The amount of lift I would like is not much, 5"-6" for the most part. The truck had 37's on it when I bought it, and they have good amount of tread to go, so a tire swap isn't something I am considering, plus I like the size. If I never took the vehicle off road, the current amount of lift would be fine aside from the rear blocks, but for the weekend outing, cutting firewood, etc, the articulation works against the fenders. Basically I need a lift that keeps the capacity of the vehicle, not simply for looks. I know I'll have to adjust the steering and pitman, and I plan add some traction bars for the rear, so those are non-issues.

skyjacker has a 6 inch lift lift that runs about $550 with front springs and rear blocks that is specific to CTD's. You can also buy new springs and have them tweaked + add a leaf will get you an extra 3-4 inches. Tampa spring sells new springs for $165 or so a piece I think. ford springs are much longer,you would have to move both spring hangers to get your axle centered.

Re-arcing yours or getting replacement OEM won't make any more difference than the actual thickness of the steel of any add-a-leaf you add to it under the cummins. Most of the sag is at the eyes on the main spring. You would have to have a heavier one made up.
i would definitely suggest not going with the rear add a leafs...if you are spending the money to bu the skyjacker softride do not cut corners. i made that mistake and need to get new rear springs but i am expecting to be afraid of the price skyjacker will hit me with
