93 W250

Hi y'all new to the fourm but have been a avid diesel fan for years well times come for me to step up to a truck i have wanted for long long time. Thing is i have a line to buy a 93 W250 1 owner cherry truck with 80,000 miles on the orig motor. Thing is there asking 11,000 is that good all around price for a gen one. Also I heard that generation one diesel motor were some of the best?

Re:93 W250

IMO $11k US is a little steep for a gen 1, though $8 for a mint truck would not be unreasonable, maybe a little higher. Depends on details as well (club cab, transmission, etc.)

Re:93 W250

Welcome DodgeCowboy83
$11,000 is kind of steep but it less than I would ask if I were selling mine. I would probably have to come down though to sell it. 80,000 miles is low and that is a plus - what elce can you tell us about it? Maintenance history, tranny, gear ratios general condition etc.

BTW love Eastern Oregon and usually pass thru or stop in The Dalles 2-3 times a month. If you need or want a second eye on this '93 email me and I will see what I can do. I am off 9/4 and 9/5 but will be working this weekend.

Good to have you join us.

Bob

PS. Please recheck the dates I was looking at an Aug. calander. :-[ :-[

Re:93 W250

way too steep IMO, esp for an bone stock auto truck. Around here I'd look to pay maybe $7000 for it. My brother gave $7800 for his 89, reg cab, but 4wd 5spd, repainted, banks power pack kit, chrome rims/big tires, cd player/subwoofers, and ~150k mi.

To me the 80k mi doesn't help the value that much, if someone wants and extra $1000-2000 for one with low mi, I'd just move on to the plethora of trucks in the ~150k mi range, they are easy to find and barely at half life.

Re:93 W250

This truck was maticuliously taken care of i mean the oil change on the date tranny is still new the interior is mint the paint is mint a/c blows cold as ice the heater blows hot as hell and so forth. Ya I think 11000 is steep too but i mean i dont think i can let this pass specially for the situation i am in.

Re:93 W250

If the truck has been primarily on the west as opposed to the salt states I feel it would be worth at least $1,200 to $1,500 more since it should be rust free. I bought mine new in '93 and elected not to have it undercoated. Ten years later there are no signs of rust. You might try to offer him $10,000 and see what happens. The truck sounds worth more than the average and you sound like your mind is made up. You could look for another year and not find one you like as much as this one.

Re:93 W250

hey there fellow fueler!
I purchased my '93 just 3 months ago from the original owner with 171k on it. Its a club cab, AT, fully loaded and had a new inj pump on it, new tires, shell, etc. He was asking $10, 500. I told him I'd give him $7k cash. He was leaving to go cross country with his business and he accepted the offer right then and there! Yeah, $11k sounds steep. But, out here in California, these trucks go for bucks. No matter what anyone says, if your mind is made up, and its worth what they're asking, pay it. You'll be happy even if you paid $15k. I am as happy as can be and haven't done anything to mine yet! If you can get it lower great; it not...buy it anyway!

Re:93 W250

I have a 1992 d350 2wd with 49,000 miles and no rust good everything. I'm selling it for $12,000 to buy a friends 1998.Here in florida we dont have rust problems and this truck spent the first 10 years of its life sleeping in an air conditioned wharehouse. If its a nice truck with 80k real miles on it i would buy it for $11,000 if i were you. These trucks are trouble free and hard to find. The only reason im going to the 1998 is because i want something to beat on and i love mine toooo much to treat it that way.

Re:93 W250

if you really like the truck I'd say go for it; you could waste alot of time and money looking for something else that at first appears to be cheaper, but in the end costs more.

Re:93 W250

Two things wrong with the first gen, there are almost no aftermarket goodies for them and they ride rougher than the second gens.

Re:93 W250

Ah but thats what i love about the first gen they had some serious heavy duty suspension and for me pulling the stock trailer thats 22ft and the diesel fuel tanks for our combines hell bring on the stiff suspension ;D
