Around these parts (Vancouver, B.C.) first gen trucks that are clean, well maintained and with low miles will fetch a good dollar. Over the last few months I have had a number of individuals give me complements on my 92 and ask if I wanted to sell it.

I'll disagree with the susp. comment. Yes, they ride rougher than a cob, but the stock susp. is definitely NOT up to snuff for haulin heavy loads. Get any (4wd at least) with 100,000 and the butt is sagging without any payload. Hook a trailer up and your lookin at the sky. Airbags went on the rear of my truck right away, and all of ours had to have them.

If you're in love with the old body style and the true lockout dana 60 these trucks are great, but for over $10k IMO it's time to look at 2nd gen trucks.

yes but the truck has only 80k but aint the suspension sage due from heavy use and if the truck was used lightely it should not have that problem tell i get a hold of it

I have about 2 inches clearance on the overloads when empty and with a 2000 lb camper it just rests on the overloads, levels the truck out. With 2500 lbs in back it starts riding pretty good. I have to wear a back support to drive mine very far empty, but I have a bad back. I'm still trying to find a air suspension seat that will work in it.

In this weekends Oregonian there are 6 92-93 4x4 CTD's priced from $7300 to $11,000 so you will be paying top dollar for a truck around here, but as a few others have said if you really want the truck its worth it. As for the trucks yes they do ride rough but mine with stock springs and a cord of wet wood it hardly touches the overloads and will still get 20.5 mpg, what could be better. As for the springs my back springs were in great shape but front springs were shot when I got the truck but this truck was never overloaded either. Ya thats why i was not worryed about the suspension on this truck it was never ram rodded around and it was never used as a ranch truck and to my susprise the o so common dodge fault in the steerin shaft is tightr than the skin on a pickle unlike so many older dodges i have driver or have had. Soon as i hear from the bank an every thing clears and the truck is sittin in front of our shop ill have some photos of it for y'all.

ok if y'all notice this thats cool if i do go ahead and get this far was winter driving goes i know the whole plugging them in but do i really need to get some of those spaces or a shield for the grille when its cold and what do i do to keep the diesel from gellin like a felin on me? or should the stations taken care of that already

When it gets cold out I just put a peice of cardboard in front of the radiator. I use Stanadyne performance formula to help keep the fuel from gelling. It is a diesel fuel conditioner. I use it year round to lube the injection pump.

its got a brand new injection pump on it so i guess ill be all right on that might just keep lubeing it

As a general rule the Cummins has a tendancy to run a bit too cool at the best of times.... I would cover a portion of the rad leaving no less than 30-40% free...real important is the area around the tranny cooler for the auto guys....
This assumes COLD weather... as in COLD... not 40*F.

If I have my manifold heaters (wait to start light funcion) run for more than 15-20 seconds, then it's time to help out by covering a bit of rad...

Ya it genrally gets down around 30 35 mostly in the winter here and on a good run of a cold spell it will stay 15 to 17 some times for a week around here but if i plug it in should more than likely be fine now if i can just remember to unplug before i take off

at those temps I wouldn't cover it. I've never covered mine, even in 0 degree weather. I once had to start it at 0* after it sat out all night in a spot I couldn't plug it in at. That was an unpleasant sound and quite the rocky ride for the first 30sec

Had 6 round bails on mine for the second time the week before last. They weren't little 500 pounders either. Softened the ride a bit. Only went about 5-6 miles, with a second vehicle at about 40- 45 mph. 4 makes for a comfy ride though. Did see a 2nd gen with a goose-neck and 20 bails on the freeway at a cozy 75mph.

Well I went and drove the truck today and ;D I pretty much ideld up a hill at 60mph hardly had the foot in the pedle every thing is nice and tight all the gagues work ran though the gears fine and no sag in the rear at all 8) and them capt seats in there wow talk about some cush seats no rips or wear in any of the fabric.
